Every day we are living within our body, interacting with our environment through touch, living a life enveloped in light and color. It is easy to become desensitized to this daily beauty that occurs before us and through us. This series works to wake the viewer up to color and form that we may have taken for granted. Presented through gestural figures dancing through colorful conditions, my goal is to experience color and our bodies under a new and contemporary lens.
The palette for this painting was especially fun to play with. I intentionally chose colors that I thought would clash and be difficult to find harmony in. Setting myself up for this challenge created a great result. While painting, I had to learn and experience each color to create balance on the canvas. The bright yellow-green contrasts with the dark wine shadow, producing something visually striking and refreshing. The brightness of the light reflects in the figure, as it bends in the top leg and arm to absorb the humidity.
